French Drains
A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe that collects ground and surface water and carries it away from the problem area. We dig, pipe, stone, and backfill the drain so wet spots and soggy ground dry out.
Swales & Regrading
Sometimes the fix for yard drainage is simply giving water somewhere to go. We cut shallow swales and regrade low areas so runoff flows away from your house, barn, and driveway instead of pooling. When the whole yard needs reshaping, yard grading is the place to start.

Standing water usually has one or two causes. We walk the property with you, find where the water is coming from and where it needs to go, and recommend the simplest fix that will actually last.
Signs You Have a Drainage Problem
Standing water in the yard that lasts for days after rain, a soft or mushy lawn, a wet crawl space or basement, mosquito-friendly low spots, and a driveway that washes out are the usual warning signs. The longer water sits against a structure, the more expensive the eventual repair becomes.
Culvert Installation
A culvert carries ditch or runoff water under a driveway, lane or field entrance, so the water keeps moving instead of washing out the entrance or flooding the ground beside it. When a culvert is missing, crushed or plugged, water backs up and cuts its own path across, taking stone and soil with it. Signs you need a culvert, or need yours replaced, include water pooling at the driveway entrance, a washed-out or crushed pipe, and erosion along the ditch. We install and replace culverts to keep water moving off your property and away from your gravel driveway.
Recent Drainage & Culvert Projects
Culvert replacement in Anderson. An old culvert was crushed and blocked, turning the front yard into a pond. The asphalt driveway was cut, a new culvert installed with riprap for erosion protection, crushed limestone compacted over it, and the yard regraded to drain toward the new culvert, then seeded and strawed.
Drain pipe in Markleville. A pipe was installed to carry water from the high side of the yard to the low side, eliminating standing water and keeping runoff out of the garage.
